Linguistic Fieldwork Equipment:
Video camera kits
Our five video camera kits are built around the Sony RXW-Z90 video camera. Each kit includes SD cards, spare batteries, a Sony ECM-VG1 shotgun microphone, Sennheiser digital wireless lavalier microphones, and headphones. A variety of tripods are available, depending on location and weather conditions.
The kits can be further customised with additional microphones, timecode generators or audio recorders as required.
Fieldwork Camera Kits
These smaller kits are built around Zoom Q8 video recorders and include SD cards, headphones, a desktop tripod and spare batteries.
Audio Recording Kits
Each audio recording kit is built around a Zoom H5 recorder. The kit can be adapted to include a variety of microphones and accessories, depending on the project requirements.
LENA Recorder Kits
Each kit includes a laptop with LENA Pro analysis software and two DLPs. Additional DLPs and LENA T-shirts can be added to the kits.
Neuroscience Equipmnet:
EEG
Three Brain Products ActiChamp EEG systems are available for use outside the lab. Each system can record between 32 and 128 channels. Each system comes with a laptop for data collection, a USB trigger box, an adult-sized cap kit, and consumables suitable for testing approximately forty participants.
fNIRS
There is a Nirx NIRSport 2 system available for loan, suitable for montages of up to 16 sources and 16 detectors. It comes with a data collection laptop, short channels, a cPOD USB trigger box, and a cap kit.
(Additional systems from the lab may also occasionally be made available for loan, depending on other projects.)
Neuromodulation
A Neurocare tES stimulator is available for loan for neuro modulation. It can be supplied with a range of electrodes, caps and accessories depending on the needs of the project.
Eye Tracking Equipment:
Screen-Based Eye Trackers
We have two Eyelink Portable Duo screen-based eye trackers. These come with data collection software, a testing laptop with an experiment builder licence installed, and a suitable audio interface.
We have Tobii Spectrum screen-based eye trackers. One is reserved for use with animal experiments. They come with a laptop with Tobii Pro installed.
Eye tracking glasses
We have two Tobii Glasses 3 wearable eye tracking glasses.
Two Pupil Labs Pupil Invisible wearable eye tracking glasses.
Phonetics equipment:
Laryngograph (electroglottography, EGG)
Each of the two Laryngograph D220 kits comes with a host laptop running Speech Studio, electrodes and neckbands in different sizes.
Ultrasound Tongue Imaging (UTI)
The MicrUs Ultrasound Speech Research System from Articulate Instruments includes an ultrasound system, a host laptop running AAA for data collection, an audio interface, a microphone, and an Ultrafit headset.
Pharyngograph
A Echovision accoustic Pharyngograph and Rhinometer.
Micalanious
Portable audiometer
Interacoustics portable audiometer suitable for screening participants' hearing.
Loan laptops
We have loan laptops available which can have licensed software installed: Experiment Builder, ePrime, BVA, etc.
Behavioural Testing Kit
The behavioural testing kit includes a laptop, an audio interface, a microphone and headphones. Suitable equipment can be selected depending on the needs of the project.
