Johannes Graën headed LiRI's Language Technology Group until 2023, which has seen significant growth since its foundation in 2020. During this time, he was responsible for overseeing contracts and finances, managing the group's budget, and leading its development.
After obtaining his PhD in Computational Linguistics in 2018, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher, most recently ona project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation that combined corpus linguistics, computer-assisted language learning, and crowdsourcing.
In addition to his academic work, he has extensive experience as a system architect, application developer, and database administrator, and thus possesses a deep understanding of software development life cycle and database systems. He is skilled in explaining technical solutions to colleagues from diverse disciplines thanks to his experience in interdisciplinary collaborations and teaching technical methods.
